Frequently Asked Questions

General information

How long does a visit last?

The guided experience lasts approximately 80 minutes. To preserve the continuous flow of the programme, interruptions are not possible.

Are there age-restricted contents within the exhibition?

The exhibition is recommended from age 12, as some historical context is required and certain scenes touch on war themes. Younger children may attend at a parent's discretion if they can follow the 80-minute experience calmly. If a child's behaviour disturbs other visitors, staff may ask the visit to be interrupted — no refund is possible in such cases.

In which languages is the exhibition available?

The exhibition is available in Hungarian, English, German, Italian, Spanish and French. Our colleagues will help on site to set the language.

Is there access for disabled people?

The exhibition is accessible for visitors in wheelchairs; however, in some rooms authentic set design (e.g. cobblestones, sand) may make passage more difficult. Our staff will be happy to assist.

Are photos allowed during the exhibition?

Photos are allowed throughout the exhibition, but flash photography is prohibited. Please respect this so as not to disturb others.

Is it allowed to eat or drink at the site?

Food and drink are not permitted throughout the exhibition. Only water is allowed.

Is using the cloakroom mandatory?

Yes — large bags and backpacks are not allowed in the exhibition area. The cloakroom is free; lockers open with a 100 HUF coin returned on departure. If you do not bring a coin, we provide a token.

Ticket purchase & cancellation

Is it necessary to reserve tickets in advance?

We recommend buying tickets beforehand to secure your place. On-site ticketing is available, but your preferred time slot may already be full.

What should I do if I miss my reserved time slot?

Please contact us as soon as possible. We will try to offer a later slot the same day, subject to availability — this cannot be guaranteed. If no places are available, the ticket cannot be transferred and no refund is offered.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start.

What if I want to rebook my ticket?

Contact us by phone or email. Changes can be made no later than 2 hours before the event starts.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

Yes — the person arriving at the venue must hold the QR-coded ticket.

Can I cancel my booking?

You may cancel via any of our contact channels. Rebooking is possible up to 2 hours before start; shorter notice cannot be guaranteed. Tickets are transferable.

Redeeming TeNapod vouchers

TeNapod vouchers can only be redeemed on site. We cannot guarantee advance booking. Thank you for your understanding.

Groups

Are school groups required to book and pay in advance?

Advance booking is required. Base programme tickets can be paid on site. With add-on programmes (interactive class, forum theatre), we request billing details: approx. 30% advance (minimum HUF 25,000), payable within 24 hours of invoice. Cancellation at least 72 hours before the event; later cancellation forfeits the advance payment.

Is advance booking and payment required for team-building groups?

Advance booking and billing details are required. After confirmation, we request approx. 30% advance, payable within 24 hours of invoice. The remaining balance can be settled on site or by bank transfer. Cancellation at least 72 hours before the event; later cancellation forfeits the advance payment.

Someone in the group got sick — what should I do?

Please contact us at csoport@timemachinebudapest.hu.

What if the group exceeds 15 people?

The group starts in several sessions with 30-minute delays — the number of sessions and estimated end time are shown in the booking form. 1 accompanying teacher free per session; max. 15 people per session including teachers.

Can students eat their snack on site?

Eating during the exhibition is not possible. Before or after the visit, snacks may be eaten in the lobby without disturbing other groups. With an interactive class, students may eat throughout the session.
